PRE-FALL Layering with Velvet & Chinese Laundry

Fall is here! Goodness. I Must Confess…I wasn’t ready for its arrival and I don’t think I’ll be ready for another couple of weeks! As you know, I just returned from my Hawaii anniversary trip and when we left, Boise, it was still in the 90’s but we returned 9 days later to rainy 60 degree weather! Thankfully, we’re in for some 70 degree weather in this coming week, which in my opinion is perfect weather to begin playing with layering, getting the last wears out of favorite summer items, and mixing in splashes of cognac accessories.

Before I elaborate on this pre fall look, I must state – I’ve never participated in the NO WHITE after Labor Day Rule. I don’t believe fashion and style should be limited by silly rules. If it feels right and you love it – wear it! And that is exactly what I did for this look here.

Fall is one of the most beloved seasons and for many reasons – PSLs, scarves, leaves falling, deep rich colors, BOOTS and layering. With the weather varying from morning to afternoon and from day to day, layering some summer pieces is both key and fun! An easily layered summer staple is this Velvet Scoop Neck Tank. I mean who doesn’t love a good white tank to layer under a favorite button up, cardigan, poncho or wear alone when the temperature rises?! In love with the length and no sleeve detail, I complemented my tank with this Velvet Cotton Poplin Button Up-Dress, which I wore open and as a layer. As for denim, I will be wearing these white Velvet White Jeans until it gets too muddy out to keep them clean!
