Idaho born and raised...it only made sense I share some of my favorite local establishments, especially if you're new to the Idaho area (welcome btw). Please note this isn't an extensive guide, more of an intimate list of businesses I visit regularly, can't exist without and whole heartedly recommend. As I continue to explore this ever growing city, I'll make sure to update and add businesses accordingly! Enjoy XO
Casa Blanca Cuban Grill - whenever we're craving Puerto Rican food, and I don't have time to make the dishes my mother-in-law taught me to make, THIS is the next best thing. Authentic Cuban food = Comfort food for Jay. A cuban mother cooking in the kitchen -you don't get more authentic than that! Plus the staff is the absolute best. My favorite plates are - Arroz Amarrillo Con Pechuga (yellow rice with baked chicken) w/ an extra side of Side De Maduros (sweet plantains) or their Cubano Sandwich. 5506 W Overland Rd, Boise, ID 83705
Amano - Emily White from the Idaho Press described Amano as a -"A portal to Mexico", and I'll go as far as saying - dinning here heals my inner child. Let me not forget to mention, Sal (chef and co-owner with his beautiful wife Becca) has been a James Beard Award finalist for multiple years now! Having ordered almost every dish on the menu and enjoyed a couple of their exclusive Valentine's Day 4 course dinners, my absolute favorite dish is their - Chile Relleno. It's reminiscent of my mother's chile relleno. And their DRINKS - mouthwatering. Okay, okay, I need to wrap this love letter up! Take it from me its worth the drive! 702 Main St, Caldwell, ID 83605
ā cafe - one of my absolute favorite spots for a wholesome and healthy breakfast or lunch! I've pretty much ordered everything on their menu but my absolute fav is their kids grilled cheese w/ chips, paired w/ their "get lit" drink!
109 S 10th St, Boise, ID 83702
A'tavola - A'tavola is such a unique and delicious dining experience. Open for breakfast and lunch, they're a specialty gift shop, bakery, cafe, lunch spot, and offer premade takeout dishes! A must in my opinion. 1515 W Grove St, Boise, ID 83702
Little Pearl Oyster Bar - for dinner, this place is a VIBE. Arguably one of the best hamburgers in the state. 132 N 8th St, Boise, ID 83702
Janjou Pâtisserie - IYKYK & if you didn't know, now you do. #1 fan of their LOX croissant sando & almond croissant. Honestly, I shouldn't even share his bakery because there's always a line out the door...so prepare for that...but also how could I not share!? As long as you understand this french breakfast is going to cost you an arm or a leg...you'll be fine. However, I promise it's worth it, especially if you enjoy bougie croissants & desserts. 1754 W State St, Boise, ID 83702
