Can you believe it’s NOVEMBER?!? It feels like just yesterday, I was writing down all of my resolutions and goals for the new year – 2016 – and now we are gearing up for 2017!
Reflecting back on 2016, and what has transpired in my professional and family life, my growth as a blogger, and what is yet to happen in these next two months – makes me want to CELEBRATE! Speaking of celebrating, isn’t that what the holidays are all about anyway? Now that we’re on these two subjects, I think it necessary we start talking about holiday attire! Don’t you?
I’m sure it’s written law, somewhere in the fashion bible, that – SEQUINS – shall be worn all throughout the whole month of November, all the way up until January 1st (realistically sequins should be celebrated and worn throughout the whole year but more so during the holidays *WINK). For today’s post, I want to show you how easy it is to style sequins, specifically a sequins blazer like this one from Shein Offical!
Sequins, depending on the piece, can be a bit overwhelming but nothing to be scared of, of course. Here’s the rule of thumb I use when styling around sequin pieces for the holidays – no matter what sequins piece you have, whether it be a pair sequins pants, top, or a blazer, make sure your other complementing pieces are MINIMAL. For example, in this look I kept it very simple with the all black approach. However, if you look closely both of my main pieces are minimal but unique. The design of these trousers from Forever21 is traditional, yet unexpected with the pintuck slits and my lace crop cami isn’t your usual silk lace cami (From Zara, sold out). Both the right amount of minimal, allowing this rose gold sequins blazer to lead the look! I love the waterfall detail on this blazer. It’s so light weight and isn’t scratch at all, as come sequins pieces tend to be. I would also dress this blazer with some dark or black denim (skinnies or boyfriend jeans), a white cami or tee, long necklace and some pumps for a dressed down yet festive look for the holidays!
